Peacock Feathers - Book One - Yoga Of Conflict - Dr. Shri Balaji Tambe

The peacock is associated with Goddess Saraswati who represents Knowledge. It has unique and vibrant feathers that break out into every conceivable colour in a vision of incredible beauty. It represents the cosmic eye.

It is a creature of high evolution. Its call is the reference for the base note in Indian music- Sa which represents the Sun. Its feathers, affixed in any cap, carry the splendour of a crown. And so, Shri Krishna acquired it as his symbol.

One truth-Tat Twam Asi (You are That) - is expressed in a thousand different ways throughout the Vedas. Shri Krishna has distilled those expressions in the Shrimad Bhagawad Geeta. Every verse in the Geeta, like the peacock's plume, mirrors the rising sun with a million golden, inspiring rays - the distribution of energy from a single source to countless receivers. And therefore this journey to understand the Shrimad Bhagawad Geeta has been called Peacock Feathers.

BOOK ONE-YOGA OF CONFLICT

Once a decision has been taken, it is not difficult to achieve success. But the mind, unique to human beings, makes it difficult to take decisions, and this leads to conflict. It differentiates between 'mine' and 'not mine', and when this happens, especially with our relationships, the mind is completely confounded. In the Shrimad Bhagawad Geeta, Arjuna knew that Nature's Law had to be re-established, but whether he should wage a terrible war for that purpose, or leave it to the vagaries of time, he could not decide. Lord Shri Krishna advises on decision-making. The Yoga of Conflict describes how conflicts arise, their many types, and how they can create havoc in our lives.

BOOK TWO will begin to give us the solutions to remedy these conflicts.
