राम जन्मभूमि को मुक्त कराने के लिए वर्ष 1986 से विश्व हिंदू परिषद ने आंदोलन प्रारंभ किया था। लगभग 33 सालों तक चले इस आंदोलन के माधव भंडारी सक्रिय कार्यकर्ता रहे थे, उन्होंने बड़े शोधपरक तरीके से इस किताब को लिखा है।

* बीते चालीस सालों के बदलाव देखें तो वे भी बहुत ऐतिहासिक हैं। इन चार दशकों में देश के राजनैतिक-सामाजिक जीवन में कई मौलिक परिवर्तन हुए हैं। इन सारे बदलावों में सरयू और अयोध्या की भूमिका भी बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। इसका अपना इतिहास है और इस इतिहास की चर्चा आने वाले कई शतकों तक होती रहेगी। इस इतिहास को सबूतों के साथ रखा गया है।
