प्राचीन भारतीय खगोलविज्ञान

‘भारत विद्या’ अर्थात ‘इंडॉलॉजी’ हा विषय अभ्यासकांबरोबरच सर्वसामान्य वाचकांसाठी नेहमीच कुतूहलाचा ठरतो. प्राचीन भारतीय ग्रंथांमध्ये आढळणाऱ्या माहितीविषयी बहुसंख्य वाचकांना उत्सुकता असते. त्यामुळेच पुस्तके, व्याख्याने, इंटरनेट अशा विविध माध्यमांतून प्राचीन संस्कृतीतील ज्ञानाचा धांडोळा घ्यायचा प्रयत्न जगभरातले अभ्यासक करत असतात.

प्रस्तुत पुस्तकात रामायण आणि महाभारत या मानवजातीच्या ‘इतिहास ग्रंथां’तील खगोलशास्त्रीय पुराव्यांची थोडक्यात मांडणी केली आहे; ऋग्वेद, सूर्यसिद्धान्त आदी ग्रंथांसोबतच नद्यांचा भूगोल आणि त्यांच्या प्रवाहातील बदलांचा अभ्यास, प्राचीन वास्तूंचा अभ्यास यातून भारतीय ज्ञानसंस्कृतीचा आवाका मांडण्याचा प्रयत्न केला आहे.

भारतीय खगोलशास्त्राच्या आणि भारतीय संस्कृतीच्या प्राचीन इतिहासाची जाणीव करून देणे हा या पुस्तकाचा उद्देश आहे. इंडॉलॉजीच्या अभ्यासातील रूढीवादी दृष्टिकोनापासून मुक्त होऊन, प्राचीन भारतीय ज्ञानविश्वाचा अभ्यास मुळातून करण्याची प्रेरणा आणि प्रोत्साहन प्राचीन भारतीय खगोलशास्त्र या पुस्तकामुळे मिळेल, याची खात्री वाटते.



‘Bharat Vidya’, or ‘Indology’, is a subject that has always fascinated not only scholars but also general readers. Most readers are curious about the knowledge found in ancient Indian texts. As a result, scholars around the world attempt to explore the wisdom of ancient civilization through various mediums such as books, lectures, and the internet.



This book presents a concise account of the astronomical evidence found in the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, regarded as historical texts of humanity. Along with texts like the Rigveda and the Surya Siddhanta, it also examines the geography of rivers and changes in their courses, as well as the study of ancient architecture, in an effort to portray the vast scope of Indian knowledge systems.



The objective of this book is to create awareness about the antiquity of Indian astronomy and Indian civilization. By moving beyond conventional approaches to the study of Indology, this book aims to inspire and encourage readers to explore the ancient Indian knowledge tradition from its roots.
